| Lifeboat harbour day is on the 6th August 2011.

6th August is once again 'Lifeboat Day' on the Harbour in Helmsdale, with the main event being the annual return visit of the Wick lifeboat,
Mr Ian Cormack and his crew are rightfully very proud of their Lifeboat 'The Roy Barker 111' and are quite willing to allow people aboard to see how she operates.
Apart from the Lifeboat there will be other attractions as we hope weather permitting to have a 'Fancy Dress' for the children, all our popular stalls such as Fresh Crab, Lobster, Smoked Haddock, Kippers & Eggs, will be on sale and on the other stalls we will be having Baking, Bric-a-Brac, and a demonstration of the old fashioned, Fisherman's Guenseys' knitting patterns, from around the coast showing the different styles that each fishing village used.
There will be the very important 'Tea Tent' with a Soup & Sandwiches Light Lunch on offer, from about 12 noon, to Tea/Coffee and fancy cakes.
Mrs Kelly Mackay, and her Highland Dancers will be on show to entertain, amongst other entertainers.
'As the Lifeboat is on hand we will again be having a 'Raft Race' same rules as last year e.g. as long as your raft can float and you have some sort of water wings or 'Mae wests' you are allowed to enter, the distance again will be from the top of the Harbour down to the east beach turn round and first back is the winner they will recieve the Raft Race Cup, there will be an entrance fee, but there will also be monetery prizes (at the time of going to press its not known yet)
This year we are honoured to have our local County Councillor Mrs Deirdre Mackay, to do the honours of opening the Fete and presenting the 2010-11 Annual Fund Raising Cheque
to the Coxswain of the Lifeboat Mr Ian Cormack, affectionately know as 'Corrie'.
Hope to see you there,
Margaret Cairns,
Secretary Fund Raising Committee Helmsdale Branch.
Don't miss out on the day,
